Trade, Shipping and FMC Topics of CTA’s “Conversation With a Commissioner” Event

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) welcomed Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Daniel B. Maffei to their Washington, DC Innovation House on May 29, 2024, for a “Conversation With a Commissioner” event to discuss trade and supply chain issues that affect technology companies and their ability to serve U.S. markets.

CTA CEO Gary Shapiro gave welcoming and introductory remarks before handing the floor to Ed Brzytwa, CTA Vice President of International Trade, to moderate the chat.

Chairman Maffei addressed a variety of topics during the program including the role of the FMC, progress on implementing the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022, and the necessity of building resilience into supply chains. Conversation With a Commissioner is a CTA speakers series where officials from independent agencies of the U.S. Government discuss the statutory and regulatory authorities they administer.
