Commissioner Maffei Speaks to Agricultural Exporters at Transportation Go!

Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) Commissioner Daniel B. Maffei traveled to Minneapolis, MN earlier this month to address attendees of Transportation Go!, an annual conference sponsored by the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance (SSGA) hosting agricultural exporters from around the country.

Commissioner Maffei covered the current and potential supply chain challenges grain exporters face such as container availability and fair market competition. The Commissioner also highlighted the importance of agricultural exports to the U.S. economy. Commissioner Maffei emphasized the necessity of maintaining an efficient and reliable ocean shipping network that agricultural shippers in America’s Heartland can fully access. Finally, Commissioner Maffei highlighted the FMC’s role as an important resource for American shippers.

While participating in discussions with stakeholders, Commissioner Maffei stressed the importance for SSGA and agricultural exporters to communicate their needs with officials of the Trump Administration and to their Congressmen and Senators.

Commissioner Maffei delivered his remarks on March 13, 2025, as part of a panel discussion that included U.S. Surface Transportation (STB) Board Member Robert Primus.
